Get Anjanae Hunter Home for the Holidays
Police in one Chicago suburb are looking to reunite a teen that has been missing since October with her family in time for the holidays. Anjanae Hunter, 16, is from Lansing, Illinois, near the Indiana border. The teen disappeared from her home on Saturday, October 26th and has not been seen since.
Hunter stands 5’6” and weighs about 120 lbs. She has piercings in both ears and possibly one in her left nostril. She has a medium brown complexion and has a long hairstyle that she typically wears past her shoulders. Hair is something the teen is fond of and there are indications that she also may do hair on the side to make money. Hunter’s hair is black and her eyes are brown. She also has some scarring on the bottom of her left leg on her shin. Police say the teen still may be in the Chicago area and it is possible she might be getting help from associatates.
Viewing Hunter’s Instagram page reveals some information about the teen not reported by police. Hunter or someone with access to her account, posted about she and her mother having an altercation of some sort. She began the post with the words “I’M OKAY.” Police cannot verify if Hunter or someone else posted the message, which has since been taken down, but was screenshot saved.
In some missing person cases, it has been shown where captors force those they may have taken by force to post things on their social media account to put doubt into if the person is missing or not. Other times, friends of missing runaways also post things on their friend’s accounts to throw off the scent of investigators.
Police say those who are knowingly assisting or giving false information to investigators in a missing child case, could be subject to arrest and prosecution themselves. If the missing person is somehow seriously injured or dies as a result of those not cooperating with police who had information at the time, they could also be looking at possible felony charges.
Anyone with information about Hunter’s disappearance is asked to contact the Lansing Police Department at 708-895-7150
