Writings of Buffalo Mass Murderer a Wake-Up Call for Black Americans
Before much of the attention shifted to the tragic school shooting in Uvalde, the public’s focus was on the mass shooting in Buffalo, where a white supremacist took the lives of 10 African Americans. While grieving the loss of 10 Black souls, hearts were ripped out again in Uvalde. However, the Buffalo attack was no random act. In fact, Payton S. Gendron had been reportedly planning his attack for months, according to his own words in a screed he wrote, in which jcoydenreports was able to obtain portions of. Law enforcement will not confirm the document is from Gendron, but private sources have confirmed to jcoydenreports that indeed the writings are his and that he wanted it released after his actions in Buffalo. Jcoydenreports also obtained photographs of the weapon used in the Buffalo attack that was scrawled with words demeaning Black Lives Matter and paying homage to past white supremacists who carried out deadly attacks.
Gendron is just the latest homegrown white, domestic terrorist that the American public has had a hard time admitting is a real national security threat. Gendron’s evil actions are part of a troubling trend that led the U.S. intelligence community last year to insist that white supremacist pose the biggest threat of domestic terrorism in the country. U.S. Attorney General Merrick B. Garland and DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas expressed the seriousness of the threat to senators last fall saying:
"racially or ethnically motivated violent extremists, specifically, those who advocate for the superiority of the white race, are the most dangerous threat to our democracy.”
Other government officials have stated that white supremacist groups and ideology “have metastasized in concerning ways,” throughout the United States. Gendron was proud of his actions and believes he is some sort of freedom fighter for the white race.
“Yes, I would call myself a white supremacist, afterall, which race is responsible for the world we live in today? I believe the White race is superior in the brain to all other races,” he wrote, in his over 100-page statement, which vanished from online sources in the days following the attack in Buffalo.
Before it was removed however, jcoydenreports was able to access much of it, some of which is being reprinted here. Many of Gendron’s ramblings are things heard before from white supremacist groups. The false belief that America is a white person’s country and blaming all of the brown-hued citizens in the U.S. for the nation’s ills along with anti-Jewish ramblings.
“Yes I am racist because I believe in differences of capabilities between races….YES!! I wish all JEWS to HELL! Go back to hell where you came from DEMON!”
Much of his theories are based off profuse political rhetoric being said by the GOP and then sent out via conservative media outlets and podcasts.
“Mass immigration and the higher fertility rates of the immigrants themselves are causing this increase in population. We are experiencing an invasion on a level never seen before in history,” it says. “Millions of people pouring across our borders, legally. Invited by the state and corporate entities to replace the White people who have failed to reproduce, failed to create the cheap labor, failed to create new consumers and tax base that the corporations and states need to have to thrive. This crisis of mass immigration and sub-replacement fertility is an assault on the European people that, if not combated, will ultimately result in the complete racial and cultural replacement of the European people.”
Gendron is quick to point out that he was solely responsible for what took place in Buffalo. However, many question that and say while he may have been the sole actor in the crime, he learned the techniques and was indoctrinated in a violent philosophy by others.
“The white supremacist ‘great replacement’ conspiracy, which claims that white people are being systematically replaced across the Western world by ‘multiculturalists’ and Jews, is now cited as a reality by some elected officials and cable news pundits, for example,” writes the Southern Poverty Law Center on its website. “The number of white nationalist groups continues to decline after their numbers peaked at 155 in 2019. Many nationwide networks have contracted or entirely fallen apart, marking a movement away from sprawling membership organizations to highly centralized ones.”
Gendron explained his upbringing and how he became indoctrinated. He said it was during the COVID pandemic that he became radicalized.
"I am the sole perpetrator of the recent attempted mass shooting. I lived in Southern Tier, New York all my life with both my parents and 2 brothers. I believe I am ethnically white since my parent’s nationalities are from north-western Europe and Italy. I graduated high school with a regents diploma with advanced designation and am currently enrolled in SUNY Broome with a major in Engineering Science.”
Gendron then at times writes in second-person form.
“Why did you decide to carry out the attack?
To show to the replacers that as long as the White man lives, our land will never be theirs and they will never be safe from us.
To directly reduce immigration rates to European lands by intimidating and physically removing the replacers themselves.
To intimidate the replacers already living on our lands to emigrate back to their home countries.
To agitate the political enemies of my people into action, to cause them to overextend their own hand and experience the eventual and inevitable backlash as a result.
To incite violence, retaliation and further divide between the European people and the replacers currently occupying European soil…’
“To add momentum to the pendulum swings of history, further destabilizing and polarizing Western society in order to eventually destroy the current nihilistic, hedonistic, individualistic insanity that has taken control of Western thought.”
Questions abound about why he thought targeting mostly Black senior citizens, a group that is not going to be reproducing, if his philosophy was to slow down the reproduction rates of Black and Brown people. His actions, while dangerous and deadly did not seem to follow the philosophy he was spewing.
However, he did get straight to the point on the question of why he chose the delivery tool of violence that he did along with the messaging on the weapons themselves. While there continues to be debates regarding if American citizens should be allowed to own semiautomatic rifles and other firearm styles, Gendron pointed out their efficiency.
“Because they work, there are very few weapons that are easier to use and more effective at killing than firearms, especially the Bushmaster XM-15 I will be using. The effect it would have on social discourse, the extra media coverage they would provide, and the changes to gun laws that will be pushed will all help my case.”
In June of 2021, police in New York state investigated Gendron and he was ordered to undergo a psychiatric evaluation. He spent less than two days in the hospital before he was released, according to investigators.
For Black Americans, the writings give a rare look inside the mind of a person who wants to do members of that community harm. There are many others like Gendron as pointed out by the research of the Southern Poverty Law Center. Gendron chose Buffalo for a matter of proximity to his own home and he was looking for as many Black victims as possible, according to his writings. He was choosing targets who were least likely to resist and chose New York because the laws in the state would make it less likely he would face armed resistance from citizens.
“(REDACTED) has the highest black population percentage (zip code *****) and isn’t that far away. Plus NY has heavy gun laws so it would ease me if I knew that any legally armed civilian was limited to 10 round magazines or cucked firearms. I replaced the name of the city to redacted because I’d prefer that the FBI and local police don’t know until the attack has started. After the attack can somebody switch it over plz?”
Gendron noted that he was not a Christian as many Americans are.
“No. I do not ask God for salvation by faith, nor do I confess my sins to Him. I personally believe there is no afterlife. I do however believe in and practice many Christian values.”
His political beliefs were more of an independent nature instead of following a party line. However, again, many of his political views were in line with what ultra-right conservative politicians in America have been saying for years.
“No, conservatism is corporatism in disguise, I want no part of it.”
Again, writing in second person he continued:
“Are you ‘right wing?’
Depending on the definition, sure.
‘Are you “left wing?’
Depending on the definition, sure.
‘Are you a socialist?’
Depending on the definition. Worker ownership of the means of production? It depends on who those workers are, their intentions, who currently owns the means of production, their intentions and who currently owns the state, and their intentions. When I was 12 I was deep into communist ideology, talk to anyone from my old high school and ask about me and you will hear that. From age 15 to 18 however, I consistently moved farther to the right. On the political compass I fall in the mild-moderate authoritarian left category, and I would prefer to be called a populist.”
Some of Gendron’s classmates have spoken to the media, but they didn’t talk about his political views. Instead, Gendron was seen as a “weirdo” by his classmates at Susquehanna Valley High School. Susquehanna Valley student Clayton Gibbs told a local media outlet he noticed Gendron doing strange things.
“He wasn’t like everyone else. He had done some very weird things, he wore a hazmat suit to the school and started spreading some Nazi stuff that I couldn’t quite understand fully,” said Gibbs to cnycentral.com
Gendron apologized for any tactical and logistical errors he may have made in the Buffalo rampage.
“I would love to continue this but there are bigger problems I’m more concerned with. I am not a warfighter, nor have I been enrolled in any military or tactical training, so excuse any mistakes I make during my attack. I was never diagnosed with a mental disability or disorder, and I believe to be perfectly sane.
Gendron wrote glowingly about those who inspired his attack. He referenced killers in Norway and New Zealand.
“His name is Brenton Harrison Tarrant (Mass Shooter in New Zealand) Brenton’s livestream started everything you see here. Brenton started my real research into the problems with immigration and foreigners in our White lands, without his livestream I would likely have no idea about the real problems the West is facing. [Jews] can be dealt with in time, but the high fertility replacers will destroy us now, it is a matter of survival we destroy them first.”
