Amy Jacobson Resigns as Amundsen Volleyball Coach

Sources within CPS and at Amundsen High School have told Jcoydenreports that embattled volleyball coach Amy Jacobson is set to resign her position today. It comes after controversy has surrounded the coach, who also hosts a podcast. During an episode last week, Dan Proft and Jacobson mocked the son of Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz while talking about the Democratic National Convention. Walz’s son, Gus, has a non-verbal learning disorder. Proft mocked the teen as Jacobson laughed and mimicked his movements.

“She is done. It will be over today,” a CPS source told Jcoydenreports.

Parents at Amundsen have launched a campaign to have her removed. They contacted the principal of the school demanding she be fired. Jacobson has coached the girls and boy’s volleyball teams at the school for a number of years.

Jacobson was previously fired from a local news station for inappropriate conduct. When former Bolingbrook Police Sgt. Drew Petersen was under investigation for murdering his wife, Jacobson took her kids to his house for a pool party. Jacobson was seen in video dressed in a swimsuit at Petersen’s home.

CPS has not released an official statement on her resignation yet. Jacobson has two sons that play on the volleyball team. The girl’s team started the season with a victory on Monday by defeating Kennedy.

I have officiated volleyball games at Amundsen a number of times while Jacobson was the coach. She was always professional with me and her teams competed hard. Jacobson built the program into a winner and respectability. There is no word on who the new coach will be at this time.
